Nectr - Scared

7 May 2021

“The kind of music that makes you melt.” – Claire Mooney, triple j

Having made an impact both locally and internationally with their stunning debut single ‘Someone’, Australian duo Nectr return with another captivating single, ‘Scared'. Nectr sees Melbourne artists Luboku and Charlz join forces to create a right-in-the-feels, alt-pop lovechild; their voices magically melding together and dancing over stripped-back beats. ‘Scared’ captures the emotions of trying to find clarity in a relationship where confusion and fear may lurk.

Nectr explain, 'Scared' came about during the uncertainty of last year. We had so many cancellations of sessions that in the end, we just started working online. I think having that limitation allowed us to dig deeper and connect with the track a little more - it’s about finding your own path through confusion, and the fear that can come with change.”

Nectr incorporates both artists’ mesmerising vocals, wrapped up in the soft glow of downtempo electronica, revealing a more subtle and delicate side of their musical offerings. Drawing inspiration from their mutual appreciation of artists such as The xx, Oh Wonder and Massive Attack, the duo effortlessly found an undeniable musical synergy, manifesting in the form of ‘Someone’, which has clocked over ¾ million streams, garnered rave reviews on triple j Unearthed and was added into rotation on SiriusXM Chill in the U.S.

Since releasing his highly successful single ‘Without You’ in 2018, which hit the top 50 of the Australian Shazam chart and gained him the title of triple j Unearthed’s Feature Artist, it’s been a whirlwind couple of years for electronic artist Luboku, culminating in the release of his concept album ‘Space Walk’ in 2020. On top of this, he was hand-picked to support the likes of What So Not, Petit Biscuit, Willaris. K, LEISURE, Kilter & BAYNK.

Nectr brings together these two very special artists to create something truly magical.  If you're a fan of The xx, this is something up your alley!
