Introducing Nectr - An Alt-Pop Project From Melbourne's Luboku & Charlz + Their Debut Single 'Someone'

Introducing Nectr, a right-in-the-feels, alt-pop love-child of rising artists Luboku and Charlz. Nectr combines both artists’ captivating vocals, wrapped up in the soft glow of downtempo electronica, displaying a subtler, more delicate side of their musical universe.

Reflecting on their debut release, Nectr shared, “‘Someone’ is unashamedly a love song. What makes it special for us is how honest it feels. It’s a heartfelt story about watching a once beautiful relationship come to an end. We wanted to wrap all of those complex emotions into a simple idea, that none of us want to just be ‘Someone’”.   Residing on opposite sides of Melbourne, Luboku and Charlz had oddly never crossed paths, but quickly connected during their first writing session together. “We wrote ‘Someone’ on our very first meeting and writing session. The song had such a powerful energy and felt truly special to both of us. We are so happy to finally be releasing it to the world,” explain Nectr. Drawing inspiration from their mutual appreciation of artists such as The xx, Oh Wonder and Massive Attack, the duo effortlessly found an undeniable musical synergy, manifesting in the form of ‘Someone’.

Since releasing his highly successful single ‘Without You’, which hit #46 on the Australian Shazam chart and gained him the title of triple j Unearthed’s Feature Artist, it’s been a whirlwind couple of years for electronic artist Luboku. On top of this, he was hand-picked to support the likes of What So Not, Petit Biscuit, Willaris.K, LEISURE, Kilter, BAYNK, as well as showcased at industry events including Big Sound 2019 and Electronic Music Conference. Currently working on a new body of work, Luboku is set to release an EP later this year on etcetc Music.

In recent years, Charlz has been capturing pop’s zeitgeist, having aligned with the likes of Grammy award-winning producer M-Phazes (Eminem, Madonna, Lupe Fiasco), Latroit, Deadmau5 protégé ATTLAS, UK phenomenon Maths Time Joy, and French house music legend Fred Falke, landing her in Spotify’s Global, US and Australian Viral Top 50, Billboard’s Spotify Global Top 50, and support from tastemakers such as Beats 1, KCRW, Triple J,  Notion, C-Heads, Indie Shuffle, Earmilk and Red Bull. On top of this, Charlz landed a publishing deal with Kobalt Music in 2017, and tour support for US R&B global superstar Khalid.

Now Luboku and Charlz have combined for something truly captivating with Nectr’s first release ‘Someone’.
