Rising Gold Coast singer-songwriter DOOLIE (Doolie Shadforth) and Western Sydney producer, singer-songwriter XMPLA (Aaron Tarasiewicz) have aligned to create ‘No Game’, an emotive alt-pop duet, which they debuted live at BIGSOUND 2019.

With both artists delivering sultry verses building into an unexpected powerful chorus, ‘No Game’ is guaranteed to provoke goosebumps and awaken the listener’s sensations. Despite the intensity of emotion radiating from the track, the craftiness of the duet envelops a conversational feel, “I really wanted the structure of this track to be different compared to my other collabs; it’s quite conversational and helps present the raw emotion going on in the song,” explains DOOLIE.

Encapsulated in the storyline is an explicitly relatable plot-line, “I wanted this song to show frustration in wanting someone you can’t have, with a serious and mildly aggressive edge,” shares DOOLIE. With brooding production that escalates, those intentions are captured, “especially when the chorus comes in and it’s just this unexpected bang that couldn’t be more perfect, it really takes you by surprise, and I suppose that’s what’s frustrating about those kinds of situations, all those unwanted surprises.”

Both artists have been building a reputation as ‘ones to watch’ with Australian media.  Collectively citing accolades as triple j Unearthed Feature Artist, a Queensland Music Awards, and guest performances at major festivals including Splendour In The Grass, ‘No Game’ is an exciting level-up for both artists developing their own signature brand of recordings.

Since establishing her recordings career at the age of 17, DOOLIE is riding high after an extraordinary 2018, featuring on releases from Paces (‘Don’t Run’) and POOLCLVB (‘Freefall’), and performing live at festivals like Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and Big Pineapple. DOOLIE’s latest release 'Attention’ has already accumulated over 160k streams on Spotify and gained support from triple j, triple j Unearthed, Pilerats, Futuremag and more.

After bursting onto the scene in 2017 after winning Studios 301 ‘Is It A Banger’ competition, as well as placing Runner Up in the 2017 Your Shot competition, XMPLA gained the title of triple j Unearthed Feature Artist in 2018, has supported the likes of Hippie Sabotage, and was most recently chosen to perform at the BIGSOUND 2019 official closing party.
