Blending pop, R&B and electronica, 21-year-old Queensland singer-songwriter DOOLIE (Doolie Shadforth) delivers her second single with etcetc Music, ‘Attention’ featuring South Australian electronic pop-rap duo China Roses, and production by Melbourne producer GXNXVS (Lastlings, Banoffee, OKBADLANDS).

Juxtaposing playful vocals with accurately relatable lyrics, ‘Attention’ expresses that feeling of frustration that arises when you’re not getting the attention you desire from someone you have a crush on. “As playful as this song is, it’s so true. I wanted every line in this song to be relatable; it’s all about that person you're trying to reach and just can’t quite catch,” says DOOLIE.

Drawing on personal experience, the contrast of DOOLIE’s sultry vocals with Jes from China Roses’ delicate tone depicts a familiar conversation between female friends. “Having China Roses feature feels like that obsessive back and forth my girlfriends and I would have about someone we liked. I also really love how Jes’ flow changes up the rhythm of the song and helps lift it back up before dropping into the last chorus,” explains DOOLIE.

"We were both really excited about being a part of this track,” adds Jes from China Roses on the collaboration. “We’d been fans of DOOLIE for a while and after first hearing the track I felt really inspired by DOOLIE’s lyrics and imagery. It was one of those times where everything felt like it clicked. Really smooth production, a great hook and a relatable theme.”

Also building a name for himself in the Australian music scene, GXNXVS accompanies the playful vocals of Doolie and China Roses with a smooth R&B melody and just the right amount of bass to bop along to.

"It was super cool to work with GXNXVS on this track, he really helped capture that cute, sad and needy feel that I was looking for,” said DOOLIE.

Since establishing her recordings career at the age of 17, DOOLIE is riding high after an extraordinary 2018, featuring on releases from Paces (‘Don’t Run’) and POOLCLVB (‘Freefall’), and performing live at festivals like Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and Big Pineapple. 'Attention’ is the follow up single to ‘2:20’ which was released in March this year and saw support from triple j, triple j Unearthed, Pilerats, Futuremag and more.
