Meet Djanaba, the Eora / Sydney based, Awabakal / Newcastle raised vocalist, DJ and songwriter who today shares the latest crevice of her propulsive pop soundscape in ‘F.U.’, ahead of her upcoming performance supporting Kah-Lo this November. LISTEN HERE.

Unfiltered and empowered, Djanaba is a connoisseur of vibrant electronic pop, who bridges her study of traditional song and dance as a proud queer Wiradjuri and Bundjalung woman with connections to the Wollombi people, with motives to inspire and uplift. Already boasting collaborations with PNAU on her breakout ‘Big Titties’ and follow up 'Don't Really Care', her latest release illustrates just how she has already caught the attention and support of triple j and Unearthed, SpotifyApple Music and more.

F.U.’ presents the depth of tradition and experience Djanaba imprints on her music - glossy effervescent pop that inspires and uplifts. Driven by cascading synths with carefully layered bars of ferocity, ‘F.U.’ is evocative of the pop-club of Eliza Rose and ‘Count Contessa’ with the perceived surface-level shamelessness of Slayyyter and Kim Petras, who too operate under the guise of carefully calculated commentary against the confines of bold, presumptuous voices in pop.

Uniting dancefloor euphoria with the honesty of being hard done by, speaking to the release Djanaba shares "I just like to look back and reflect on some of the horrific people I've slept with. This one particular trash bag started some rumours about me years ago. Just a couple of months ago he spammed my Instagram. This is very much a f**k you to him. Working with Friendless on this track has been such a seamless process he very much encouraged me to be vulnerable enough to write about this experience.

"I was very much inspired by drum and bass in this track and you can see that in the tone of drums,"
she continues. "This is really just the start of my creative journey in terms of creating my own brand and sound. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I am literally living my dream by creating and I am very much learning to trust in my abilities as a songwriter. As someone who has been told there are too many reasons for why l would never be successful, it is all too f**king powerful knowing you are continually proving them wrong."

Djanaba’s transformative craft already knows no bounds, boasting over 1 million streams across ‘Big Titties’ and ‘Don’t Really Care’, amongst transcendent sets across the NIMA Awards in collaboration with triple jGroovin’ The Moo, Summer Camp, and soon Spilt Milk and MELT Festival supporting Kah-LoDjanaba is fast securing her position as a powerhouse, Djanaba's seamless blend of electronic subgenres with her unapologetic nature and authenticity already resonates. Her steady rise remains imminent.
