BRUX - Paper Boy
7 Sep 2018
Elusive Sydney producer BRUX returns today to throw down her latest single "Paper Boy", out now via etcetc. Meticulously crafted with club fuelled force and staggered intensity, "Paper Boy" as premiered via mixmag, highlights yet again BRUX's ability to craft a sonic universe built upon light and dark elements.
A diverse whirlwind, "Paper Boy" effortlessly weaves multiple genre progressions and instrumental elements with such care and intricacy that it ebbs and flows in distinctly new ways. Utilising layered beats, heavy synths and a distinct "Paper Boy" vocal, there is no singular crescendo on this track. What is delivered is another eerily intriguing release that continues an inevitable procession of club-ready singles.
"Paperboy" arrives ahead of BRUX's trip to Berlin this week, to represent Australia as one of 61 music makers worldwide at the 20th Anniversary of Red Bull Music Academy. Every year, the Academy receives thousands of applications from artists hailing from around the world. Historically, the artist behind her persona heralds glowing songwriting credits on records by Madeaux, Flight Facilities and The Aston Shuffle.
BRUX's debut single "I'm Back" signalled the beginning of her rise, with "Paper Boy" being a second refreshingly innovative and alluring take on club music. With two delectable singles now released and the badge of electronic music honour in representing Australia at Red Bull Music Academy, we now enter the era of BRUX; a musical confrontation of fate and the pursuit of pleasure, all to a sound you can get down to.
